If your website is blacklisted by a search engine, your internet based business will fail. If you are unable to get your website listed on the major search engines such as Yahoo and Google you won’t be able to attract any new traffic to your website. If you aren’t registered with one of the major search engines than no one will even no that your internet based business exists.

The good news is that as long as you use your common sense you won’t have to worry about being rejected by any of the search engines.

Watch the Color of Your Text

One of the things that search engines really hate is when a webmaster tries to improve their search engine optimization by using hidden text on their web pages. What hidden text is; is text that is shaded so that it is the exact same color of your websites background, if you have a royal blue background, don’t use royal blue text. The reasons that the search engines hate hidden text are because the web crawler is able to distinguish between the text and the background, while the visitors to your website cannot. That means that the content you used to improve your search engine ranking is invalid.

If you don’t want the visitors to your website to be able to read something, don’t post it on your website.

Write Articles, Not Lists

When you are working on your websites search engine optimization, you need to resist the urge to cram your web pages full of keywords and key phrases. When the web crawlers are searching your web pages, they are looking for web content that educates and informs people about your product. Make sure that you use your keywords and phrases in articles or product descriptions. As long as your website is rich in informative content, you will not have to worry about offending the search engines.

Don’t think that you will be able to trick the search engines; they have seen it all and will know if you are trying to cheat the system.

Remember Who You Are Creating The Website For

When you are designing your website, you should never lose sight of the fact that you are creating it for humans to use. The search engines crawlers aren’t going to buy your product, people are. Design your website so that it is inviting and easy for people to use. If you design it for people the search engines will love it to. Plus you need to remember that the better people like your website the more likely they are to write about it and link to in their online journals and blogs. The more this happens the more higher your website will be ranked.
