effective-niche-research

There is no more important aspect of affiliate marketing than choosing and identifying your niche so that you can promote affiliate products and services to them effectively.

Your success as an affiliate marketer depends alos depends on your ability to stay up to date on changes in your niche, and keeping content fresh and relevant for your target audience.

Here are 5 effective ways to do research your niche and increase your chances of success with affiliate marketing:

1. Choosing Your Niche
The first thing you need to realize is that there are tons of niches that are untapped and just waiting for you to step in and dominate. Don’t fall into the trap of thinking that you have to promote what’s currently hot. There’s enough out there for everyone.

Why make your Internet business just another J.O.B.? Determine your passion, what it is you love, and research those niches first.

So, the very first step in your niche research is to actually choose the niche you will be promoting.  After determining your passions, also consider your professional training, hobbies, and other experiences that might make it easy for you to put together some content and promote related products and services. Imagine if you love golf and could merge that love with promoting it online for money?

2. Seek Out Your Targeted Visitors
The best way to research your niche and find out what they want is by hanging out with them. You can do that by joining forums on the topics that are relevant to your niche.

In order to find forums, simply go to Google and type in “forum +niche keyword”. The plus sign will tell Google that you only want forums with that keyword in the title/description. So, for instance, let’s say you want to find forums that are based on Blues Guitar. You would type “forum +Golf” into the search field.

Once you’re inside the forums, find the most popular threads and make notes of the questions that come up over and over. Are there problems that need to be solved. Are these people looking to solve a problem? (i.e; improve my golf swing).  Also make a list of keywords and phrases that you think people might search for.

3. Keyword Research
The next thing you’re going to want to do is get a list of keywords that people in your niche regular search to find information that they want on your topic.
The best way to do that without buying expensive keyword research tools is to use the free Google Keyword Tool. Start with your main niche keyword and then drill down to longtail keywords that have low competition, but a lot of monthly searches. Add them to the a list and then save export them on the right to whatever format you prefer.

Now you’re ready to to begin creating your campaign and dominating your niche!

Qualities Needed For Affiliate Marketing

The popularity of affiliate marketing definitely is hot and always on the rise with new money hungry marketers entering the game on a daily basis. The success rate varies and depends greatly on the individual. In the business of affiliate marketing, there isn’t a boss to answer to or deadlines to meet, so in order to be successful, you not only need the right knowledge and tools of how the online business works, but you will require a certain set of personal qualities that will increase your chances of success and longevity.

Here are 5 of the basic qualities you will need to possess.

1. Willingness to learn.
If you’re new to affiliate marketing, you’re going to have to be patient and be willing to learn, test, fail, and then learn some more. The reason that failure is included is because it is very likely that you will make a few mistakes on your first few tries. However, just like any other mistake, it’s how you learn from it that matters.

2. Willingness to invest time and effort
It’s not unheard of for many weeks to pass without making any money when getting started with affiliate marketing because there is quite a bit to learn when you’re getting started (depending on your experience of course). It’s important to not get discouraged and keep pushing on.

3. Focus and determination
When you’re working on your own and have the Internet at your fingertips, it’s extremely easy to get distracted, especially when you first starting out and you hit a roadblock or two. Those who remain focused and stay determined are the ones who break through and create successful affiliate marketing campaigns.

4. Self discipline
With nobody telling you when and where to be and what you have to be doing at any specific time, it is completely up to you when you choose to enter the affiliate marketing business. Self discipline is crucial to your success.

5. Optimistic
Bad attitudes and negative outlooks have no place in affiliate marketing. There is a lot of split testing, ad tracking, tweaking, and trial involved in creating profitable campaigns. Attitude is everything, and a positive one will take you a long way.

traffic-tips

Regardless what business you’re in, marketing any business can be tough if you don’t have a budget, but there are always free ways to get started and the business of affiliate marketing is no different. When people get started with affiliate marketing, the biggest reason that they fail is because they give up too soon because they realize that although it can lead to passive income that runs on it’s own with little maintenance, there is a lot of hard work to get there from ground zero.

If you’re willing to put in the work to get started without a budget, then you can not only get your affiliate marketing business off the ground, but you can actually make a pretty good income with a very low investment using free resources.

Here are a few great ways to generate traffic to your affiliate promotions that won’t cost you anything but a bit of your time.

Niche forums and communities
Forums and other online communities are one of the best, and often overlooked, ways to get free traffic in your niche that can drive sales to your affiliate marketing promotion. The idea is to join and participate on a real level (not spammy!) in order to build trust and credibility in your niche.  The signature of your posts will always include your website address, and we people see you know what you’re talking about, they will want to check you out further and click that link.

Newsletters
Building a list by offering a free newsletter is a great way to offer your target audience products, freebies, and other valuable information in your niche. Just remember to respect them and not be pushy with the sales. Offer the free value with no strings attached more than you try and pitch an affiliate product and you’ll do fine.

Article Marketing
Writing articles on various topics in your niche is also a great way to get exposure. You can submit your articles to free directories online like ezinearticles.com, goarticles.com and others that allow you to post a link or two and other information about your site in the resource box. It’s great for backlinks ad seo as well!

affiliate-marketing-mistakes

Affiliate marketing programs have become a viable business model for marketers and a sustainable way to make a living online. The great thing is that most are free to join and will even provide you with an arsenal of promotion tools to get you started. You can literally get started making money with affiliate marketing for free if you choose to do so, which is why it is so enticing, especially to people just getting started.

However, as with any business, there are certain pitfalls that you need to avoid in order to be successful. here are 3 common mistakes to avoid when starting out with your affiliate marketing business.

Mistake #1: Choosing The Wrong Affiliate Program
There are two main things you need to do when choosing the right affiliate program and product to promote. The first thing has nothing to do with the product at all, and that is find a hungry crowd, a targeted market that is in need of something. For instance, let’s say you found some research showing that pet owners are finding it hard to buy expensive pet food for their pets, but they like to feed them the healthy brands.

Now you find the right product to promote. In this case, maybe an ebook on how to make your own pet food that saves you tons of money, but gives your pets the same nutritional value as the most expensive foods on the market.

Mistake #2: Joining Too Many Affiliate Programs
Some people, especially when starting out with affiliate marketing, overwhelm themselves by joining too many programs and for some reason think that they will make more money if they have more to promote. The fact is, starting out by promoting only a handful of products in or around the same niche is the best approach so that you can stay focused until you get those ones making sales. Then, you can always create new campaigns.

Mistake #3: Unfamiliar With The Product
When you’re promoting a product or service it really is beneficial if you know as much about it as possible. In fact, it’s recommended that you buy it and experience yourself if you really want to be able to talk about it well. There may come a time when someone asks you a question about it and you have no answers. This also helps if you are to build an opt-in list within the niche (which you are, right?). You want to be able to interact and answer questions for your subscribers and recommend products and services in a way that doesn’t sound fake or scripted.

3-incentive-ideas

When you want to attract new subscribers to your opt-in list, it can be overwhelming to get started, especially when you know you’ll be competing with several other Internet marketers. The best way to build a massive list to improve your affiliate marketing sales is to entice your visitors with incentives to subscribe.

Here are 7 excellent ways to entice your visitors to subscribe to your opt-in list:

1.  Newsletter
Starting a newsletter is one of the most popular incentives to use when building an opt-in list for your affiliate marketing efforts. With an online newsletter, you can position yourself as an expert in your field, build credibility and trust, and ultimately more sales. However, one word of caution: don’t blast your list with nothing but sales. The reason your subscribers signed up is to get some free valuable information, so be sure to give it to them before pitching and affiliate product or service. Also, be sure to keep your content fresh, The biggest reason that people unsubscribe to newsletters is that they don’t feel the information is relevant to them any longer.

2. Free download
Often combined with a newsletter, the free download is a great incentive because it’s instant gratification and if it’s presented right, it can be perceived as a must-have item. For instance, if you were to provide the “3 secrets to making more money in your niche” in exchange for an email, that can be very enticing. The download could be a set of articles, an ebook, free software, or a number of other ideas. Make it valuable and you will have a happy subscriber list in no time!

3. Free Course
Another great way to get visitors to subscribe to your opt-in list is to offer them a free course on a relevant topic in whatever niche you are promoting.  A course can be small (but informative) consisting of as little as 5 or 10 articles spread out of a month’s time. This is just enough frequency to keep you in their minds and build a relationship, but also infrequent enough that it doesn’t seem like you’re bombarding their email

Why You Need An Optin List

If you’re trying to make money online, whether it is affiliate marketing or any other type of business, opt-in list building is key to generating  long term success. In fact, many internet marketers spend over 80% of their time building their opt-in list.

There is one main reason that you should build an opt-in list and believe it or not, it’s not to make massive amounts of money. Of course, you want to make money from your list, but you must realize that the number one reason to generate the list is to build a relation with your customers and gain their trust. Making money is secondary.

You see, the money won’t come, or at least it will be a lot harder to generate, if you don’t bond with your readers, customers, and followers.

One of the biggest mistakes new marketers make is building an opt-in list and then bombarding them with offers immediately after they have opted in to receive emails from you.

Depending on the type of list you are generating, it is likely that the user chose to opt-in to your email list in order to receive some valuable free information on whatever niche topic you are in. So, be sure to give that to them, otherwise you are sure to have a large unsubscribe ratio.

This is especially true for affiliate marketing. As an affiliate, you are making money from recommending other people’s products and services. You must first gain the trust of your readers before you go and blast them with every offer under the sun.

The ultimate goal is to continue to add new subscribers to your list while keeping the current subscribers happy. Even after they have been on your list for a while, be sure to continue sending them a freebie report, articles, downloads, and other valuable information every couple weeks at least. This will keep them happy and actually look forward to opening your emails which will pay off in the long run when you get a high open rate to the times when you do send out an offer that will make you money.

Don’t be a salesman. You need to look out for your subscribers and be their friends. Do that, and they will gladly buy from you.

What Is Affiliate Marketing?

Affiliate marketing is basically  a revenue sharing system between online merhcants and online marketers. The payout for the marketers is measured by performance, typically based on sales, registrations, or per click. For the most part, information resources will usually refer to the companies with the affiliate programs as affiliate merchants or advertisers, and the marketers are known as affiliates.

The lure of affiliate marketing for the most part is that marketers can make great money by promoting someone else’s product using their promotion tools, and in many cases, not even need a website of their own. Affiliates can also set up marketing campaigns that automate the process of traffic and sales, thereby creating a set it and forget it system of passive income.

One of the early adopters of affiliate programs was Amazon.com and the system has helped their business as well as many others grow exponentially year after year.

The basic idea is a win win situation for both parties. The advertisers get hundreds or thousands of affiliates driving traffic and doing work on their behalf that brings in more income, and the affiliates benefit by making consistent income without having to deal with creating products, dealing with customers, or anything else of that nature.

Affiliate marketing also allows people who are already passionate about a product or service, easily make money by simply spreading the word about something they already know and love.

However, aggressive marketers use many tactics to promote whatever will make them money and not always something they’re necessarily passionate about.

Affiliate marketing is one of the most popular ways of making money online, especially for people who are new to online business because it is fairly easy to get started and you can often make hundreds if not thousands of extra dollars a month in a relatively short amount of time if you are serious about the business.

choosing-an-affiliate-program

When you start your affiliate marketing business, one of the first things you’re going to have to do is find a product to promote through a company that has an affiliate program.
Many times, new affiliate marketers make the mistake of just signing up to every affiliate program the find, grab the affiliate link, and start pasting it everywhere without even reading the details of how the affiliate program works.

To ensure that you are the most effective with your time and effort, avoid these mistakes when your choosing an affiliate program:

A Worthwhile Commission
One very important aspect of affiliate marketing to remember is that it takes the same amount of effort to promote a $200 product or service as it does to promote one that is $25. Define your goals and choose products and niches that you can make a healthy income from when you start making sales.

Real Time Statistics
When you’re testing new affiliate campaigns, it’s extremely important to split test, and watch statistics like a hawk until you find just the right combination that brings in high conversions on a regular basis.  At the very least you want an affiliate program that provides real time statistics and not old, irrelevant numbers.

Support And Tools

These days, you shouldn’t settle for having to wait any more than 24 hours for an email reply from your affiliate program if you ask a question. If possible, it’d be even better to find an affiliate program that has 24/7 support and can get back to you within a few hours if they don’t have live support.  To get a feel for what it would be like if you had a problem, ask a few questions before you sign up to the program to evaluate their support.

You also want an affiliate program that has fresh promotion tools and offer a wide variety so that not every website in the niche that promotes this product ends up using the same creatives. Some affiliate programs even offer custom affiliate graphics and other tools if you can prove that you can bring in consistent sales.
